Welcome From The Headmaster
Welcome to you all, past, current and future pupils and parents; we hope you enjoy an informative visit to our web site.
Chinthurst School is an independent Prep school, based in Tadworth, Surrey, with a friendly 'family' ethos. Our aim is to provide an all-round education within a happy, purposeful and active school life. At Chinthurst we aim to help, encourage and stimulate all our pupils, both in the classroom and outside. Our extra-curricular programme is extensive and varied in our quest to give all pupils success in different areas, as well as an appreciation of, and consideration for, others' abilities.
Having celebrated the school's centenary in 2008, we look forward to the next century in the school's history with heightened anticipation. We intend to continue to combine the provision of traditional values with the incorporation of new developments of good educational practice. I hope that your visit to our website will give you a flavour of our unique school and that it will encourage you to visit us in person so that you too can enjoy the 'Chinthurst' experience. I look forward to meeting you, and your child, in the near future.

Chinthurst Opens Its Doors to Girls
On Tuesday 6th December, the Board of Governors announced the landmark decision to move from being a boys school, to becoming a co-educational school. A gradual phase will be introduced as follows:
Rising 3+ (Nursery) in April 2012
5+ (Pre-Prep) in September 2012
7 + (Main School, Years 3–8) in September 2013
We are all very excited and it will make for a very enriching atmosphere. In September this year we admitted a significant number of pupils into Pre-Preparatory which shows that parents value the Chinthurst experience and the direction we are taking. The decision to move to co-education is a natural development, reflecting the realities of today’s world, where our pupils go on to co-educational Senior Schools, Universities and develop careers in an equal opportunities environment. It is a small beginning but we are optimistic and it is very heartening to hear from families with boys and girls that they can join up, for the first time in 50 years, in the School.
