Welcome to Pre-Prep
At Chinthurst we foster a happy and friendly atmosphere and are passionate about the quality of education we offer. We encourage our parents to be involved in their child's education and good communication between parents and staff is of paramount importance. To this end, in addition to regular meetings and reports, we operate an "Open Time" from 8.30am - 8.45am each morning, when parents may discuss any aspect of their child's progress with his/her teacher.
We believe firmly that learning should be an enjoyable experience. We realise the importance of providing a range of stimulating and challenging activities to make learning fun and also to develop our pupils' thinking and problem-solving skills.
The Foundation Stage (Nursery and Reception) and Key Stage One (Year One and Year Two) take our pupils from age 'rising 3' to 7 years and, at this early stage, it is vital to make sure that the key skills are in place. We place special emphasis on reading and we believe that our pupils learn to read so they can then "read to learn". In our teaching we employ a strong phonic emphasis, with regular monitoring and diagnostic testing. We offer a rich and balanced curriculum, which is enhanced by regular Music and Drama productions, educational outings and a wide range of sporting activities.
We promise you a warm welcome at Chinthurst.
