Because your child will be loved at Chinthurst. Some schools shy away from talking about love and relationships. Not us.
Love is what propels you as parents, and it’s no different for our teachers.
Love is why we worry about your child, talk about them endlessly and agonise about how best to help them improve. It’s why we have high expectations for your child and do what’s best for them, not what’s easy. Love is why we connect, challenge, hold them to account and whoop at each victory. The hard-won micro-gains and the stellar leaps forward.
Relationships are what will ensure your child feels happy, safe and willing to make mistakes - key ingredients for learning.
They're why children try hard, and teachers give so generously of their time and talents. Relationships are how we know your child needs the next challenge or some extra support. They’re how we find the hook to get them interested in something they find tricky. Relationships cultivate confidence, resilience and independence. They’re the secret to success in life: friendships, sports teams, choirs, drama casts, projects, workplaces, board rooms…
Some would say that heart and academic excellence are mutually exclusive. We’d argue that they’re symbiotic.
Chinthurst is an academic school with excellent 11+ results, and a feeder to one of the most academically selective schools in the South East, because it is powered by heart. We recruit teachers with natural warmth and nurture, infectious energy, passion, humanity, a sense of fun and a genuine love of children; lesson plans can be taught, the right heart can't.
