Little Chicks and Kindergarten

'An outstanding Early Years education lays the foundation for everything that follows'.

Early Years at Chinthurst is a warm and nurturing environment within a bright and spacious setting. Separate areas for play, art and more formal activities, enable our dedicated and qualified team to encourage an enquiring mind.

Children join 'Little Chicks' in the term in which they turn three  and have a gentle introduction to school life in a caring atmosphere that encourages learning through fun and rewarding activities. They spend a minimum of 3 mornings with us, with the option of adding additional morning and afternoon sessions as required. The children contunue their learning journey in Kindergarten in the academic year they turn four, and benefit from a wealth of activities and experiences. They have a weekly Forest School with a fully qualified Forest School teacher and  specialist taught Music and Games lessons. They have their own ICT suite where they have individualised use of a computer, to complement the interactive whiteboards.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum with a good balance of free-flow play and more structured learning in the classroom or ICT suite.

Each child’s progress and development is monitored and recorded individually and staff prioritise communicating the progress made to parents during this very early and exciting stage in a child’s education.
