Headteacher's Roundup 15 March 2019
What a busy week it has been! The school has been alive with purposeful activity and it is wonderful to be a part of such a happy community.
Some of you may have read my interview with Muddy Stilettos in which I talk about the impact of pressure on our children and balancing that with an inspiring, motivating education. Many children thrive on a hectic schedule, high expectations and competition and others need more down time, more reassurance and are more passive in their approach. Whoever your child is, I genuinely believe they will go on to be successful, happy adults, if we understand them and adapt our approach to meet their individual needs. With one in ten children under 11 having a diagnosable mental health illness, I feel passionately that we must provide a safe, nurturing environment in which children can take risks and thrive.
The pastoral care at Chinthurst is, I believe, beyond compare. We know how important it is that the children feel they have someone to talk to who will really listen to them. Our priority is to ensure they feel loved and valued within the Chinthurst family. When a child feels this, we can challenge them, encouraging them to venture out of their comfort zone so they can reach their full potential. I would like to thank my dedicated, passionate staff for all they do for the children at Chinthurst, they make the difference and they really are exceptional!
