Chinthurst's festive season came to a joyful close with a memorable Upper School Carol Service held in the church, bringing together the school community for a truly uplifting celebration of Christmas.

The atmosphere was set as the church filled with the sound of festive brass music, performed by the brass ensemble directed by Mr Stott. The service opened with the Chinthurst Community Orchestra performing Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy and Verdi's Anvil Chorus.

Traditional carols echoed beautifully around the church, with favourites such as Once in Royal David's City, Ding Dong Merrily on High, O Come, All Ye Faithful and O Little Town of Bethlehem. The Upper School Choir performed a varied and festive programme, including Tonight, The Colours of Christmas, Deo Gracias, Children Go Where I Send Thee and Gaudete.

Poems performed by Years 3 to 5, curated by Mrs S-T, showcased confidence and creativity, while readings from Head Girl Sofia, Head Boy Oscar and Year 6 leaders offered thoughtful reflections on the season's true meaning.

The service ended on a high with a spirited performance of The Twelve Days of Christmas, involving the entire church community. The children, staff and parents all joined in, rising to their feet for their verses and creating a wonderfully joyful finale.

Sincere thanks go to Head of Music, Mrs Oldfield, for bringing the service together so beautifully, to her father Jonathan Holmes for accompanying on the organ, and to all the musicians, singers, parents and children who took part. It was a heartwarming celebration that perfectly reflected the talent, togetherness and community spirit at the heart of Chinthurst - and a fitting way to end the term.
