The penultimate day of the school year can only mean one thing at Chinthurst… Quest Day! And this year, it soared to new heights with a superhero theme inspired by our Year 6 production of Superstan. With capes fluttering and imaginations firing, the whole school united in their Houses for a day filled with action, adventure and heroic teamwork.

Lower School: Little Heroes, Big Adventures! Our youngest superheroes kicked off the day with a carousel of four themed activities that brought out their courage, creativity and collaboration. The excitement began with a superhero scavenger hunt, where teams set off across the school grounds in search of hidden power items. Each clue led to another, as the children collected stamps and raced to save the day. In true superhero style, the children completed their challenge by designing their own hero certificates and bracelets, celebrating their unique superhero strengths. Next up was the Lego Superhero HQ Challenge. Split into four teams, the children worked together to build extraordinary superhero bases complete with runways, secret buttons, hot tubs, boats, jetties, flags and even a vulture or two! They were marked on creativity, design, teamwork and resilience – and wow, did they impress! Then it was time to get moving with an epic obstacle course. Capes on, the children zipped through imaginary traffic, scaled buildings, crawled under bridges and put out fires – all while collecting water to put out the fire and working as a team. In Superhornsby and Superbrotzel's Superhero Academy, the children faced their greatest challenge yet. An evil witch had trapped twelve superheroes inside puzzles! It was up to our brave teams to work together, listen carefully and include everyone as they hunted for puzzle pieces and put them back together to set the heroes free. Let's not forget our youngest learners in Nursery, who had a fantastic time taking part in their own superhero-themed activities!

Upper School: Heroes in Action! Meanwhile, our older superheroes took on a series of creative and critical-thinking missions in their own superhero carousel. To kick things off, teams raced to crack codes to save Batman, tackled anagrams and deciphered Catwoman's emoji messages - proving that every hero needs brains as well as brawn! The Superhero Fashion Show saw teams transform newspaper and Sellotape into show-stopping costumes, including capes, masks, bracelets and more. Their finished designs were modelled by eager volunteers in a heroic presentation, judged on creativity, teamwork and flair. Next, it was time to make shields fit for a superhero. Armed with just 30 minutes and a pile of recycled materials, the children worked in teams to create shields that were imaginative, colourful and ready for action. In the silent superhero art relay, teamwork was put to the test. Each team member had 90 seconds to draw a part of a superhero - but without speaking!

Hero Fuel and Afternoon Missions: All that hero work built up quite an appetite, so Nursery, Lower School then Upper School gathered on the field for a delicious BBQ lunch under the canopy of the gazebos. In the afternoon, Upper School returned for more superhero training with a range of teamwork challenges. The Water Bucket Challenge tested coordination and communication as Houses attempted to carry water-filled bags across a set course - without stepping out of their hoops! Next, the Code Breaker Relay combined quick thinking with obstacle course agility as children solved riddles and raced to uncover hidden letters. Finally, the Crossing the River challenge in the Sports Hall required strategic planning as each House worked together to transport their whole team and equipment across an imaginary river without getting wet.

A Super Ending to Quest Day 2025: At the end of this action-packed day, the final points were tallied and the winning House was revealed at today's Prize Giving. A huge congratulations to Phoenix for their heroic victory! But every single Chinthurst child deserves a round of applause for bringing the superhero spirit to life with boundless energy, brilliant creativity and problem-solving skills and kindness. With teamwork, imagination and that true Chinthurst spirit, they didn't just rise to the challenge - they saved the day!
