Celebrating Anti-Bullying Week: Empowering Children to Use Their Power for Good

Our Head of Pastoral Care, Mr Hornsby, explains the importance of nurturing emotional intelligence and helping children understand that each of us has the ability to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
At Chinthurst, we believe in nurturing not only academic excellence but also emotional intelligence, kindness, and respect. That's why we are proud to be celebrating Anti-Bullying Week this year, with the powerful theme: “Power for Good.”
This theme has guided our conversations and activities throughout the week, helping children understand that each of us has the ability to make a positive difference in the lives of others. Whether through a kind word, a helping hand, or standing up for someone who needs support, we all have the power to create a safer, more inclusive environment.
Why “Power for Good”? The theme encourages children to reflect on how their actions (big or small) can impact others. It's about empowering them to be upstanders and not bystanders.
To launch Anti-Bullying Week, we kicked off with 'Odd Socks Day', a fun and symbolic way to show that it's okay to be different and that our uniqueness should be celebrated.
How can we encourage our children to use their power for good? Here are a few simple ways you can help your child use their power for good at home: help your child think about ways to include others in games, conversations, or activities especially those who may feel left out; and set a goal to do one kind thing each day as a family, whether it's writing a thank-you note, helping a neighbour, or simply sharing a compliment.
As we continue to build upon our culture of respect and compassion at Chinthurst, we thank you for your support in helping your children grow into confident, caring individuals who use their power for good every day.
