Chinthurst was delighted to welcome back some familiar faces last week, as our former Year 6, now thriving in Year 7 at Reigate Grammar School returned to spend their inset day with us. Choosing to come back to Chinthurst, they devoted their day to supporting lessons and inspiring our current Year 6 cohort with their experience, confidence and advice.

The day began with an English Literature session, where our visiting Year 7s shared examples of the work they now complete at senior school. They talked through annotated texts and the skills they are developing in their new English curriculum. The session proved incredibly insightful, giving our current Year 6 children a clear picture of what lies ahead and leaving them feeling motivated and inspired for the next stage of their learning journey.

A lively Q&A session followed, giving our current Year 6 pupils the invaluable opportunity to ask questions about life at senior school. The Year 7s spoke candidly about their transition to Reigate Grammar School, offering practical tips on navigating timetables, organising lockers, staying on top of homework and embracing new opportunities. Their honest reflections were both reassuring and motivating, helping Year 6 to feel more confident and excited about the journey ahead.

They also encouraged Year 6 to cherish their final year at Chinthurst, highlighting the special moments and memories that make Year 6 so unique.

We are incredibly proud of our Chinthurst alumni and immensely grateful that they chose to spend their inset day giving back to the school community. Their confidence, maturity and kindness are a testament to the young people they have become.
