On Monday morning, Mrs Reid led assembly to mark World Religion Day, which was celebrated on Sunday 18 January 2026. The assembly provided the children with an opportunity to reflect on different faiths and the importance of understanding and respect.

The assembly began with an interactive quiz, challenging the children to identify a range of religious symbols. The children rose to the challenge brilliantly, correctly naming every symbol.

World Religion Day is always observed on the third Sunday in January. Its purpose is to bring people together and promote peaceful understanding between different faiths. During the assembly, Mrs Reid highlighted that while religions may differ in many ways, they also share important similarities. Across the world, communities mark this day through a variety of events and services that focus on faith, belief and shared values.

This term’s school value is love, and Mrs Reid explained how love features strongly across many major religions. She encouraged the children to think about how they show love and kindness to others in their daily lives, reminding them how important it is to treat people the way they would like to be treated themselves.

World Religion Day reminds us all of the importance of working towards a peaceful and respectful world, celebrating both our differences and the values that unite us.
