Phoenix House held a special assembly today, led by our new House Captains alongside Miss Gilmore, to introduce the charity they are fundraising for this term - Love Works.

Love Works is a local charity, founded in 2008 and based in Reigate. The organisation provides vital support to families in the community by supplying food parcels and practical assistance to those who are unable to access food banks. Each month, Love Works distributes an incredible 2,738 food parcels, helping to ensure families do not go without essential supplies.

During the assembly, the Phoenix House Captains asked the children why they thought this charity had been chosen. The children quickly made the connection to our school value for the term – love. Supporting Love Works is a wonderful way for our community to show kindness and care for others who may be facing challenging times.

To raise funds, Phoenix House will be hosting a charity fundraiser on Wednesday 11 February 2026. All children are encouraged to come into school wearing something they love – whether that’s a favourite bobble hat, a cosy jumper, or, if you’re Mr Beadle, perhaps your favourite waistcoat!

On the day, children will have the opportunity to donate and decorate their very own heart-shaped biscuit. A big thank you to Vicky and her team, who will be providing the delicious biscuits. The children can choose to save their decorated treat to give to someone they love or enjoy it themselves.

Chinthurst is really looking forward to a fun-filled day celebrating love, generosity and community spirit, while supporting a fantastic local cause.
