Chinthurst School was delighted to celebrate the success of 22 students who took part in their LCME Musical Theatre examinations (Grades 1–4) during the spring term, achieving an outstanding set of results.

Every child earned either a Distinction or Merit, with an impressive total of 17 Distinctions and 5 Merits. The achievements reflect the chidlrens’ hard work, dedication, and growing confidence as performers.

The Musical Theatre examinations assessed far more than singing ability alone. The children performed songs from the musical theatre repertoire, recited and acted spoken lyrics with clarity and expression, and took part in detailed discussions with the examiner about their chosen pieces and preparation process. They also incorporated props and simple costume changes to enhance characterisation and storytelling.

The examinations provided performance experience, helping the children to develop communication skills, interpretation, stagecraft, and self-confidence alongside their vocal ability.

For many children, this marked their first experience of a formal performance examination, and they approached the challenge with maturity, creativity, and impressive stage presence.
