Just before Half Term, Year 4 set off on their very first residential trip - and what an adventure it was! With bags almost as big as some of the children and huge grins all round, they boarded the coach for their adventure to High Ashurst, tucked away in the stunning woodlands of Box Hill.

The trip began with a scenic walk from Headley Heath. Then it was straight into the action with a mix of archery and team-building challenges. From untangling themselves in a giant human knot to guiding tennis balls down guttering tubes into a bucket, the children showed brilliant teamwork, creativity, and lots of laughter. After a well-earnt lunch, it was time for orienteering. Armed with maps, the children set off to explore the countryside, sharpening their navigation skills along the way. Next came woodland survival skills, where they learnt how to light fires using sparks. As dusk fell, everyone gathered around the campfire for a singalong led by Mr Mac. Then it was off to the teepees for the ultimate sleepover under the stars - tired, happy, and ready for more the next day.

Friday kicked off with a hot cooked breakfast to fuel the fun ahead. The children tackled the challenge course and tested their bravery on the high ropes - especially the jaw-dropping leap of faith! The children encouraged and celebrated one another as they climbed Jacob’s Ladder, swung from the trapeze, and stacked crates sky-high (over 13 tall!) - the challenge was whether they could balance at the summit before they toppled over!

The whole trip was bursting with fun, adventure, and smiles from start to finish. It was a real joy to see the children growing in confidence, working together as a team, and showing such resilience in new and unfamiliar situations. They’re already buzzing about their next big adventure in Year 5!
