There was a real sense of excitement around the school as Year 6 prepared to take to the stage for their eagerly anticipated production of Porridge. Behind the scenes, the atmosphere was buzzing as Year 6 transformed into their characters with the support of staff, who worked tirelessly on costumes, hair, make-up and final preparations. With both a matinee and evening performance ahead of them, anticipation was building throughout the day.

As the curtain rose, audiences were transported to the fairy-tale town of Happy Valley, where a string of mysterious crimes had left residents puzzled. The story followed detectives Jack Spratt and Goldie Lox as they worked to unravel a series of clues, encounter an array of suspicious characters and solve the mystery of several missing items. Packed with humour, surprises and plenty of twists along the way, the production culminated in a wonderfully chaotic suitcase mix-up before the true culprit was finally revealed.

From the opening scene, Year 6 captivated their audiences with confident performances, infectious enthusiasm and impressive stage presence. Every pupil embraced their role wholeheartedly, bringing the colourful cast of fairy-tale characters to life with energy and conviction. Whether delivering witty one-liners, building suspense during the investigation or portraying larger-than-life personalities, the cast demonstrated remarkable talent throughout.

The musical numbers were a particular highlight. The children sang with confidence and enthusiasm, filling the hall with energy and joy. Their enjoyment was evident in every performance, especially during the ensemble pieces, where their teamwork and commitment shone through. The audience could not help but be swept up in the excitement, creating a fantastic atmosphere at both performances.

The matinee performance delighted pupils and staff, while the evening performance provided a wonderful opportunity for families and friends to enjoy the culmination of months of hard work and dedication. Both performances were met with enthusiastic applause and glowing praise, reflecting the tremendous effort shown by every member of Year 6.

A special thank you goes to Mrs S-T, whose passion, creativity and dedication were at the heart of the production. Her enthusiasm inspired the children throughout the rehearsal process and helped bring this fantastic show to life. Thank you also to Mr Beadle and Miss Gilmore for the excellent lighting and sound, which added so much atmosphere to the performance. We are equally grateful to the Maintenance Team for their support with the set-up and to Mrs Lyth for her hard work designing and creating the set, helping to transform the stage into the magical world of Porridge.
