Year 5 enjoyed three action-packed days at their residential last week, creating memories that will stay with them for years to come. Accompanied by Mr Cookson, Mrs Reid, Mrs Scrase and Miss Doherty, the children embraced every opportunity to try something new, challenge themselves and step beyond their comfort zones.

The trip was filled with exciting activities, including climbing, archery tag, fencing, crate stacking, water balloon protection, paddle boarding, kayaking and kata kanuing. Each challenge was met with enthusiasm and determination, with the children encouraging one another every step of the way and demonstrating remarkable resilience, teamwork and positivity.

The weather certainly added an extra layer of adventure, with sunshine, showers and even torrential downpours making regular appearances. Before long, everyone had become experts in the art of “shower dodging”, making the most of every dry spell and refusing to let the changing conditions dampen their spirits. Their good humour and resilience shone through from beginning to end.

A particularly special moment for the year group was the campfire evening, perfectly timed between heavy storms. Gathered around the fire, the children enjoyed toasted s’mores, sang songs, danced and shared precious moments with friends. As if on cue, beautiful rainbows appeared overhead, providing a fitting backdrop to an evening full of friendship and togetherness.

The trip was a wonderful celebration of adventure, determination and friendship, and every member of Year 5 should feel immensely proud of the way they embraced each experience and supported one another throughout.
