Congratulation to our senior schools, Reigate Grammar School (RGS) and RGS Surrey Hills (RGSSH), who celebrated outstanding exam results across both A Level and GCSE qualifications this year.
Exceptional A Level results at Reigate Grammar School
This summer, RGS students achieved results amongst the very best in the country. An impressive 94% of A Level grades were awarded at A*–B, with 38% of all grades achieving the highest possible A* grade.
Individual achievements were equally impressive, with 77 students securing A* or A grades in every subject they studied. Art students enjoyed particular success, with 100% achieving an A*, while 97% of BTEC results were awarded at Distinction level.
For many students, the summer’s results mark the beginning of exciting new opportunities. Alongside places at leading universities, students secured highly competitive apprenticeships across engineering and technology, accounting, banking and finance, including an apprenticeship with global energy technology company Schneider Electric.
Achievements extended well beyond the classroom, too. One student, who represents Great Britain in lacrosse, will continue to pursue her sporting ambitions alongside studying Law at university.
Success at RGS Surrey Hills
Students at RGS Surrey Hills also celebrated impressive A Level and International Baccalaureate (IB) results, including a significant rise in A Level performance.
This year’s leavers are progressing to a wide range of exciting destinations, including Durham University and King’s College London. Others are heading further afield to pursue opportunities in international destinations including Boston, Barcelona and Gothenburg.
Record-breaking GCSE results
The celebrations continued on GCSE results day, with both senior schools marking their best-ever GCSE results.
At Reigate Grammar School, an exceptional 90% of all GCSE grades were awarded at Grades 9–7, with nearly half of all grades achieving the highest Grade 9. Students demonstrated excellence across a broad range of subjects, with 100% of grades in Art, Photography and Design Technology awarded at Grades 9–7.
RGS Surrey Hills also celebrated success across individual subjects. Creative subjects achieved 100% Grades 9–4, while Mathematics recorded its strongest results for the third consecutive year.
Reflecting on the GCSE achievements, RGS Headmaster Shaun Fenton said:
These are exceptional results and a wonderful reflection of the hard work and commitment of our students, as well as the support provided by their teachers and families. We are enormously proud of this remarkable group of young people. These are our strongest-ever GCSE results, but what is particularly pleasing is the breadth of their achievement. Our students have excelled across the sciences, mathematics, humanities, languages and creative subjects, reflecting the many different talents and interests within this year group.
The outstanding results across RGS and RGS Surrey Hills are a fitting celebration of the determination and ambition of the students, the encouragement of their families and the dedication of staff across both schools. As students embark on the next stage of their education, careers and wider ambitions, the whole RGS community is immensely proud of all they have achieved.
