Our School Ready Programme

School readiness at Chinthurst School means giving children the strong early reading, writing and mathematical foundations they need for Reception, while nurturing the confidence, curiosity and independence that are equally important for future success. By the time they leave Pre-Reception, children are eager to learn, ready to make friends and excited for Reception, with a genuine love of learning.

Growing in Confidence

Children build confidence through everyday experiences. They learn to share ideas, take turns, make choices, express their feelings and try new activities, developing the resilience and self-belief that will support them throughout their school journey.

Along the way, they become increasingly independent, learning practical skills such as putting on coats, washing hands, using cutlery, eating together and taking responsibility for their belongings.

Learning Through Play

Through playful, hands-on experiences, children develop strong foundations in communication, early phonics, numeracy and problem-solving. Stories, songs, imaginative play, STEAM activities and outdoor adventures inspire children to ask questions, think creatively and discover the joy of learning.

A Seamless Transition to Reception

Moving into Reception feels like a natural next step for our children. They already know many of the teachers, have explored the classrooms, shared playtimes and spent time with older children. By the time they leave Pre-Reception, children are happy, confident learners who feel secure, capable and excited about the wonderful adventures that await them in Reception.
